International conference on African anthropology from 1 to 4 July in Algiers

ALGIERS- An international conference on African anthropology will be held from 1 to 4 July in Algiers during the 2nd Pan-African Cultural Festival, the Director General of the National Prehistoric, Anthropological and Historical Research Centre (CNRPAH), Slimane Hachi announced on Sunday. A "very strong symbol" for all Africans on the eve of the Pan-African Festival’s opening ceremony, he told a news conference here. This tribute to such "leading" anthropologists as Jomo Kenyatta, Amadou Hampate Ba, Mouloud Mammeri and Cheikh Anta Diop will provide a forum for African anthropologists to share their experiences, launch a major discussion on the status and promises of anthropology in Africa, as well as cultural and scientific cooperation opportunities, he added.
